Silicone rubber self-adhesive tape uses silicone rubber

Silicone rubber self-adhesive tapes are categorized into heat vulcanization type (high temperature vulcanized silicone HTV) and room temperature vulcanization type (RTV), with the latter further divided into condensation polymerization reaction type and addition reaction type. High temperature silicone rubber self-adhesive tapes are primarily used in the manufacture of various silicone rubber products, while room temperature silicone rubber is mainly employed as an adhesive, potting material, or mold. The heat vulcanization type, which is consumed in large quantities, is further subdivided into methyl silicone rubber (MQ), methyl vinyl silicone rubber (VMQ, with multiple grades and applications), and methyl vinyl phenyl silicone rubber PVMQ (resistant to low temperatures and radiation). Other types include chlorosilicone rubber and fluorosilicone rubber.

Silicone rubber self-adhesive tape refers to rubber whose main chain is composed of alternating silicon and oxygen atoms, with silicon atoms typically having two organic groups attached. Ordinary silicone rubber is mainly composed of siloxane linkages containing methyl groups and a small amount of vinyl groups. The introduction of phenyl groups can improve the high and low temperature resistance of silicone rubber, while the introduction of trifluoropropyl and cyano groups can enhance its temperature and oil resistance. Silicone rubber has good low temperature resistance, generally able to operate at -55℃. After the introduction of phenyl groups, it can operate at -73℃. Silicone rubber also exhibits outstanding heat resistance, capable of operating for extended periods at 180℃, maintaining elasticity for weeks or longer at temperatures slightly above 200℃, and withstanding high temperatures above 300℃ instantaneously. Silicone rubber has good gas permeability, with oxygen transmission rate being high among synthetic polymers. In addition, silicone rubber self-adhesive tape also possesses the prominent characteristic of physiological inertness and does not cause blood coagulation, making it widely used in the medical field.
